Funcken Armies and Uniforms of the Napoleonic Wars


For the last 50 years or so I've been using Funcken, mainly the 'All Times' volumes. My recent foray into Napoleonics means that I'm now using the Napoleonics volumes as my main uniform source - and it's in French. There's too much there for continually having to translate so...
I've bought an English version off EBay. Should make life a bit easier.

      Happily, accuracy is not my number 1 priority - the mass of coloured illustrations are :)

      For my purposes, do I need anything else? Well, apart from the fact I seem to be using the Cassin-Scott Blandford book as much!

    Agreed. I've got paperbacks of the English language versions, and, inaccuracies aside, the illustrations are a wonedr to behold. My maternal grandparents presented them to me on my 22nd birthday way back in the heady 1980s.

      Mine at latest early 70s - fact is, can't remember when, could be late 70s.

    My old battered French copies challenged my school boy French back in the early 70s. Now I just look at the pictures.

    As I am collecting classic 20mm Napoleonics it's only right that I use these books as my core reference, inaccuracies and all.

      I think most people interested in Napoleonics had Funcken.
