  1. Nice parade, they look great all together.

  2. They make a super, small expeditionary force or allied contingent to against or with those pesky Amazons. What they need now is a couple of good command figures, something vintage and fantasy perhaps?

    1. What they mostly need is more cavalry! I did a Warrior Indian army once - cavalry by Minifigs, elephants by Britains... so cavalry have always been a bit short. Actually, not true - had a Warrior Goth army once with a few Huns in support!

  4. Hello. Very off topic but I found an obituary for Steve Sykes in your blog. Your post is dated 2020 but I wondered if perhaps you meant my late close wargaming buddy Steve Sykes who died in 2016 Steve was a huge ancients wargamer , a founder member of the society of ancients and I first met him at the Leeds wargames club in 1985. He was hugely involved with sealed knot and other re enactment groups.

    1. The Steve Sykes I knew was .Roundhead Association. I mostly knew him from his association with Pete Harris who wrote the Tercio ruleset. I didn't know if he was involved in founding the Society of Ancients. Quite likely the same person though I knew him around 1972-4.

    2. Rob I’ve just messaged his widow, Jane Moran. Both Jane and Steve were in the Roundhead association at that time, although not married then!

  5. Apologies. I’m not sure why it went anonymous above! Jane say s that both she and Steve were in Lamberts regiment.

    1. Confirmed same person. Please pass on my condolences to Jane; If she was in Lambert's Regiment I would assume she also knew Pete Harris who was our 'common link'.

  6. I have 32 of these 'pikemen' was wondering what make they are, got round the base issue by trimming the cast bases right down slighty off setting and overlapping and mounting 8 to a 6x4cm base, my shields are missing....

    1. None of the pikes had 'original' shields; just card which I removed.
