Garrison ECW

There's been some recent interest on TMP recently about the old Garrison 25mm  English Civil War range. That being the case, I thought it might be an idea to dig out some of my photos of some of the figures in the range.

  1. Thanks for posting the pictures, Rob. Helps me out re sorting my figures out. Glad there is some interest in the line. Hope it increases.

    1. Sadly, the interest is several years too late. I'll be able to let people have a few figure later on, but then thast will be it - possibly I'll get some casting done late March/early April, possibly another bout late June to end of July, then that could be it. At the moment, it's very much a case of 'I intend to cast some figures for me' and 'spare casting time when I'm casting means that I should be able to cast some figures for others '

  2. You probably know this already, Rob, however, I found variations in pose for EW5- Musketeer firing musket, soft hat (I have four different types: soft hat w/feather, w/bonnet, soft hat w/o feather, and helmet w/plume). Also, EW2 Drummer (I have two different types: helmet and soft hat) and EW9 - Pikeman attacking helmet ( I have two different types: plumed helmet and Montero.

    1. You credit me with too much knowledge...

The photos were produced for the online catalogue back in 2008. Sadly, the range did not do well and I haven't really looked at it - some figures, for instance, badly need new moulds which would have happened, also...

(Anyone with serious interests in this range please don't read any further as content may upset you)

The infantry 'masters' consist of a bag full of headless bodies and separate heads. These heads include plumed and plumeless soft hats and helmets, Puritan heads, bareheaded and with cap. There is also an odd figure (with head attached) of a musketeer loading musket. Therefore at any time between 2008 and, say, 2011, the range could have been massively expanded, possibly to include the use of separate heads... and certainly to include up to about 8 or more head variations of each figure!

  3. Rob - these are really very nice - I've never seen any before. This is going to be irritating, since you have gone to the trouble of including a scale in the pictures, but - with all due apologies - I make these chaps about 25mm soles to eyes, by dint of a bit of dodgy interpolation on the computer screen. Is that about right?

Thanks for showing these - great stuff.

  4. Those figures have a certain elegance and style that you just don't see now.

  5. Some of the best ECW figures unavailable..... glad I picked a few up a while back.

  6. Now that I've gathered my emotions: if mass production is out of the question, would a selection of the range of figures be a possibility?

    1. Not really practical. Firstly, Garrison closed because on demand casting was getting a bit much for aged bones, secondly if I did it for one minor range (especially one that no one had been interested in in the past) then it would be difficult to say no to people wanting other ranges.

      But see above.

  7. Lovely castings! Sorry (for others) that the range is out of production.

    Best Regards,

    Stokes

  8. I had a mere score of these, favourite ECW range ever but we can't do everything. Never did build more than ECW samplers in any scale.

    1. Someday I might do a small force of my own. Someday. Perhaps.
