I mentioned a while back I was expecting my latest 'snipe' to arrive via ebay - actually came a few days ago but I've just gotten round to taking pictures!
17 cavalry, including 14 S Range Persians, and 3 camels. |
The S Range cavalry were the ones I wanted, so at £13.55 for 14 cavalry it was less than £1 a figure! |
Which means the camels and other 3 cavalry were free! |
Couple of other things. A while back Adam Banner, the designer of the Admins Range, sent me some pictures of some Admins figures he had painted - these are on pages.
Secondly, got round to getting my eyes tested - big cataract in my right eye which explains some of the problems I've had painting over the last few months! Referral in to get it fixed, so in a few weeks perhaps my painting might get back to something like normal. Seems that cataracts are a known side effect of all the meds I've been on for the last few years.
I like your latest purchase.
ReplyDeleteI have always liked the Admin figures, pity they are not available any more.
It will be good to get your eye sorted out. I imagine it helps to know the reason now for your painting problems.
They help fill a slight gap - my Minifigs S Range Persians are one of the more neglected armies in my collection. Although the Egyptians and Assyrians are fully rebased and up to strength, the Persians have been sidelined in favour of Garrison - I still haven't rebased most of the figures I got from Harry yet.
DeleteAdmins are a mixed bag - some I love, others not so much.
I saw those on ebay and must admit I was tempted - I'm glad they went to a good home! Are the 'S' Range cavalry the APC 1 Persian Lancer? I couldn't track them down in the old catalogues.
ReplyDeleteFriend of mine had a cataract removed and says it drastically improved his sight, colour perception and everything - hope that goes well for you.
They are the S Range Persian Lancer. This buy gives me 4 units. Re cataract gather it takes 2-6 weeks for eyes to fully recover, but operation itself consists of taking out the lens and putting in an artificial one. Not sure if that qualifies me to be a cyborg or not!
DeleteVery nice, good find AND it's recycling in a way!
ReplyDeleteI have about 20 PB minifigs, think republican romans, if you know anyone interested?
If separate shields then they are late issue. Ebay is the obvious answer but, sadly, you shouldn't expect a lot for them.
DeleteUnpainted, codes PB118 and PB 38.
ReplyDeleteOne of the shields is missing from a PB 38
Forgot to say good luck with cataract, everyone I know with the same has been so surprised at how easy it was, and how much better they can see.
ReplyDeleteThank you - that is my hope.
DeleteLong had a liking for the S ranges.
ReplyDeleteNo cataracts discovered here yet, just a gradual die off of rods and cones and my lifelong handicap. Hope the surgery comes off well.
I've worn glasses for quite a while , but generally OK apart from this.
DeleteGood luck with the Op, hopefully the greatly expanded waiting lists we keep hearing about won't affect you.
ReplyDeleteI'm told the people I've been referred to have quite a rapid turnover time. Having said that, the cataract itself isn't all that much of a problem in 'normal' life.
DeleteThey are free and gratis, donation to charity. Could not post abroad, am in U.K.
ReplyDeleteCould perhaps give them directly to a charity shop - some of the things I've bid on in the past have actualy been put on ebay by charities directly.
DeleteAlways good to get new toys…
ReplyDeleteThose camel riders have impressive swords…
As cataracts seem to run in my family… I expect I shall need the same operation at some point.
All the best. Aly
Impressive, but I doubt the originals would have ever hung around long enough to use them!
