| A few years ago I bought a mixed Garrison/Minifigs 7YW Austrian army for possible future use. Half the army went campaigning in the North and the rest is finally getting sorted... Needs some grenadiers and the hussars are actually Prussian, but it's a good basis and means I can get on with some others. There are still some more figures to do but all I'm doing with them is removing flock, quick coat of gloss paint and rebased. |

| The figures generally are variable in quality - some have lost their bayonets for example. However, the star of the show is the superb cannon. |
Next army I think I'll start is the British army. Meanwhile I've been putting various cavalry figures under the microscope - it's still a mess in that area!
Nice to see the Austrians, lovely figures and the Minifig canon and crew is a cracking piece.
ReplyDeleteI think they're the best part of the 'bought' part of the army.
DeleteAhhh that reminds me! Those chaps look splendid.
ReplyDeleteIt's a decent force.
DeleteCracking Austrian force, they look great.

Thank you
DeleteThe Austrian army has 13 elements not 12? Is that to allow variants to be fielded? I would be tempted to go with 18 or 24 elements per army, if only to ensure I could have two cavalry wings. It also reduces the impact of the odd extreme dice roll if you need to lose 6 or 8 elemnts to be defeated.
ReplyDeleteI see they do now have some light troops. :o)
I don't have any Grenadiers painted up so this includes alternatives - basically should only be one element of hussars (two look better) and lights replaced by grenadiers. There is an alternative AI option I got by changing the question slightly - 4 Musketeers, 2 Grenadiers, 2 Grenzer, 1 Cuirassiers, 2 Hussars, 1 Light Artillery and 1 Heavy Artillery. I might sort out an actual army list with alternatives, possibly also drawing inspiration from Don McHugh's army lists (if you don't mind Don!)
