15mm Assyrians

The Assyrians were painted at the tail end of my 15mm experiment. This means I painted  them (mostly) but the bases were a bit neglected. Chariots were more or less completed, as were the cavalry and fake elephants, infantry a bit less so. As in, all the infantry are still on unpainted bases - this was long before I used my current basing method.

Once upon a time I used to do a lot of complicated shield and parasol designs, but they dd take a long time to do.

Of course, one thing I had to have in the army... camels with big ears...

More little people

Except my son painted these when he was about 15-17?

Assorted Mongols and Sung - basically, lumped together as a Yuan army.

(Bad joke of the time: General sees army, asks out loud 'Who are they? Butler answers 'Yuan, my Lord?' General replies, 'No I didn't ring. I asked what army that was.' - as I said, seemed funny at the time.)

Some of the little people

There was another time when I was tempted by 15mm. Didn't last long, painted some Macedonians, Greeks,Persians and Assyrians then stopped. The figures were mainly Donnington, Essex and Chariot. I think. But don't ask me which were which.

Haven't done any photos of my Assyrians yet, but here are a few of the Macedonians, Greeks and Persians.

The Greeks:
The hoplites
This shield pattern later adorned a unit of 20mm Garrison G3

The Macedonians:
The army
Phalangites
Companions
Peltasts
Elephants - the head on this model always looked weird.
 The Persians

Must take some photos of my Persian cavalry as well..

Rose British Civil War

Curious name for an almost mythical Range.

Though British Civil War is a bit more accurate than English Civil War anyway!

It's a Range that many have doubted the existence of, and personally I've never seen any of the figures. I have been told they were rubbish...

So, proof of existence from a Rose catalogue of about 1973 (or early 74?)

Garrison 1972 Catalogue

Added a new page - the 20mm catalogue taken from the 1972 Greenwood and Ball Journal.

A time of change

We're now into the last month of Garrison as such. At the moment orders are running at 2-3 weeks between receiving them and sending the figures out. On that basis, I'll probably be sending the last figures out by 21st December.  Regarding next year, there will be limited sales to past customers as I've already said; this blog and the email address garrisonminiatures@gmail.com will be the only points of contact. I suspect that most 'eligible' people know what  they will want, please make sure you have the catalogue numbers and figure descriptions available to you by the end of the month.

It would be appreciated it if orders in November are not left to the last minute. If it looks as though orders are going to exceed my ability to complete them before 21st I will close the catalogue early. I don't really want to be casting beyond that date.

The final intention is to allow me to turn this:

Into this:

On a semi permanent basis.

One option I will be considering to to continue some limited 'general' production beyond 2015, but if I do it will probably just be the 20mm Ancients and 25mm S&S Ranges. I'm still producing 'new' 20mm figures and have several new ones I will be doing for myself, including several Persian and Mede figures.
