Undated, but I would assume from somewhere between 1880 and 1900, this photograph album is rather large and, as such, some of the images have been clipped slightly. The full range of pictures can be found in the

They feed on each other - as it should be. The colours are always what get me - some of the uniforms are a lot lighter shade than you would expect while others are exact. Makes choosing paint more interesting.
DeleteInks and watercolours aren't always the most reliable colour guide but these sort of illustrations provide some the best sources of inspiration.
DeleteTrue, but ones like the ensign above are fine, it's ones like the field artillery that are much lighter than expected.
