A couple of old A13s

Having a general mooch around and came across these two.

No idea how long ago since I carved them, 40 years? - the guns, I remember, are needles from a sewing machine. That's about all I can remember about them.

  1. Not much left of the Shermans to Priests, Stugs to Pz3, Stalin to KV, etc... used to do quite a bit with balsa in the past.

    1. Thanks. Perhaps 40 years ago, today, I doubt it.

  3. Those are really clever - I was never any good with balsa myself. If I'd seen these 40 years ago I would definitely have gone oooh!

  4. And in a way its a sadness that today everything is orovided. i once remember the Fewsters( I think that was their name) bringing WW1 German pickelhaube infantry by Airfix ,that had been converted into British 7 years War Light infantry. Everyone was wowed. Today they would have a dozen choices of manufacturer.

    1. It was part of the fun. I want this... now, how can I makje it...

One of my current pleasures is converting the old Garrison ranges. If I had to use 70s figures it would be so wrong, being able to just cast, then mix and match. OK, the end result may not be brilliant, but there is a nice sense of achievement.
