The nicest Egyptian infantry are not Garrison or Minifigs, they are Rose. But I have so many Egyptians anyway (really, 2 or more Minifigs armies, 1 Garrison, a sort of Heinz 57 one, plus Atlantic plastic) that I can in no way justify adding to the heap.
The painted ones look a lot nicer 'in the flesh' than they do in photos!
I have to admit, it is really, really tempting to paint some of these. If only there were some cavalry...
Just do it! You only live once and this is not the same as buying a Harley.
ReplyDeleteActually... I always say that I spend a lot less on wargaming than a Harley would cost... But I also want Saxons...and Normans. And Byzantines and Sassanids. That's just Ancients and even then the list isn't complete... plus there's still a load of figures in the queue as well...
DeleteThey are quite slender and delicate. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI loved painting up my handful. Nothing compares to them imo.
ReplyDeleteNot all the poses said "wargaming" and then that lack of comparable cavalry, well, they was still tempting!
When I was much younger I hankered after the figures from the Rose ranges. They did some lovely sculpting. Personally I would paint them up merely because they deserve to be completed and then used.
ReplyDeleteWhich is an excellent point.
