The Moon Beast

According to Lovecraft the moon beast was vaguely greyish, eyeless and with a mouth covered in pink tentacles. I wanted to give it a hint of Batrachian  because that's it's general look so merged bits of green in the skin tone - it's meant to suggest a mix somewhere between shark and frog... Likewise a vaguely yellowy/muddy front...

No idea if I've captured 'the look', but looks OK - it's a nice figure, hope I've gone somewhere to doing it justice.

Thanks Mike.

    1. It's an easy figure to make a reasonable job on. Taking things easy at moment and just sort of recovering from hospital - it's quite tiring being there.

  2. Looking very good.... nice to see one painted. Dave, my mate who sculpted them is a very talented man. He makes his bread and cheese by making film prop armour and reproduction historical jewellery.

    1. It needs a better painter than me - perhaps the me of 20 or 30 years ago could do it justice - but it would be a very nice addition to the Pulp modelverse.

  3. Nice work squire. Are you planning a Lovecraftian game?

    1. The Farm, back in February, was intended to be a prtecursor to a set of games over the Easter holidays... didn't quite work out... I'll probably lay out the scenario for Five Hounds and incorporate the pictures into that post, though really more standard ghost/horror rather than true Lovecraft. So, yes lined up but not sure what or when at the moment.

  4. That's a great looking moon-beast. When I saw the second picture, the angle of the photo made it looked like he was holding a paintbrush for a second ;)

    1. At first I thought about leaving it out and treating it as 'monser'. However, moon beasts are basically an alien civilisation so I left it... like it, but not sure how restrictive it will make it's use. An army of varying size moon beasts could be interesting - their ablilty to vary their size might be an issue though.

  5. That's one ugly beast!

Glad to hear you've escaped hospital more or less intact. My most recent experience was a 15 minute test that took 12 hours.

    1. Had that once - sebacious cyst, out patient, told me nothing to eat from 11pm previous evening, went in in the morning late afternoon before they removed, took a few seconds... Most of the afternoon I was just thinking 'bacon sandwich... bacon sandwich... bacon sandwich...'

I think a lot about bacon when I'm in hospital.
