Must admit, I'm really beginning to hate how that blue appears in photos - much better in reality! |
As a whole they look quite effective and are a lot easier to paint quickly than Napoleonics! |
Currently I'm working on a cavalry squadron, 2 Parrott Rifles and a mounted general. Put together, it's enough for one side of a battle - hopefully I'll get the other side sorted in the New Year!
Its always annoying when the colours lie.
ReplyDeleteI missed the last post but looking at these I immediately thought Rose. I had a sample unit of Napoleonic infantry and cavalry in the 70's. The infantry worked ok with my Airfix but the Heavy cavalry were so much smaller than my Airfix Hussars that I never got around to painting them
Must remember to check compatability with Jacklex...
DeleteLate to the fair, here... I LIKE that blue for the Union. Two reasons. Dye batches differ, so just about any colour within a shade or two of the 'regulation' colour would be about right, I think. What with weathering and fading, it would be no surprise if the colour took on even a greenish tinge, like the well known, often pictured, Hardee Confederate 'Chickamauga' flag (1st Arkansas).
ReplyDeleteIt's Vallejo Model Colour Dark Sea Blue - I like it because it is a bit lighter than the dark blue I use for French Napoleonics and does have a certain faded look about it.
