A place where Ancient Ancient armies can peacefully retire to... Possibly. Oh, and some pulp. A few things on 6mm SciFi tanks and stuff. And the toy soldiers. Especially the War of 1897... And now I seem to be starting on 20mm Napoleonics as well! email GarrisonMiniatures@gmail.com

An Eclectic Mix of Persian Chariots
OK, even apart from these I already have an eclectic mix of Persian chariots.
Three different sets of chariots bought from Harry, two different painters. All very different. Incidentally, for a different way of painting some of these look at the Assyrian chariots at the top of the page, bigger versions: http://easterngarrison.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/lamming-assyrians.html I put mine into the Assyrian army with Lamming horses and crews.

I'm counting these as one set!
Think Harry painted this, not sure. If I ever do a Jubilee Parade a la Parum Pugna then I would have to use this Great King - 'mine' are Cyrus and, well, Cyrus - one too early, one too late.
Really, this one is actually not Xerxes he's Darius, but I'm still
going to use him as every Persian King except Cyrus and Cyrus.
Again, I think Harry. Love the paintwork
Not painted by Harry. These are by Ray McGarry

Corps VIII - the Indians.
Actually Corps VIII of the infantry, Corps IV of the cavalry, and there shouldn't really be any chariots or elephants. The originator and painter is cedited as Roger Moores (see nice-and-very-old-elephant and chariots-power-to-weight-ratio. )
Quite a nice force in it's own right, plus I've got a few more unpainted infantry
Although described as Indian chariots, they are, in fact, more of the Persian types that seem to crop up all over the place. I've also ordered a 'modern' 4 horse chariot which may finish up getting 'old' horses.
Elephants seem to be early PB Range from the days when they were still classed as 'S' Range.
More crew needed -I've ordered a 'modern' Minifigs Porus figure, see if that does the job.

Update re Picture Loss
Basically, I've reposted the header picture - and taken the opprtunity to resize it - and I think I'll just start trying to reinstall the 'lost' pictures. Not sure how I'll do it - I put captions on the originals, so might paste the captions into the main text in future. It's very much going to be a case of playing things by ear. There were a couple of posts completed but in draft form - one on the Indian satrapy, another on Minifigs Persian Chariots - that have also lost most of their pictures. I'll sort them out first, try to get them up, then start going through the rest.

Picture loss
For some reason most of the pictures have vanished from my blog. No idea why, or why some are still there.
Minifigs Persian Cavalry
One of (or only) my Minifigs 'S' Range Persian units. Don't think I had any others as most of my cavalry were Garrison. However, I have got 2 other units from Harry which I have previously posted here: Minifigs 'S' Range Persians
Should be more of these and I should probably have finished repainting them. Probably about 25 years ago.
Early PB Range - at least they're painted.
Later PB Range. I used to like big standards - dates this unit to late 70s-early 80s.
Small bought standard shows this unit is late 90s or early00s
'Harry's' cavalry - though I don't know who painted them
Sort of middle period PB Range...

Garrison Persian cavalry
For the first couple of years after 'discovering' lead figures virtually all the cavalry were Garrison. This posting is quite useful in the sense that it shows the early survivors plus the ones that have succeeded them.
The only non-Garrison figures are some Hinchliffe figures that formed an early Guard unit - I just wanted to put all my Guard units together. They are mostly figures from 'my' collection and don't include any of the Charles Grant ones. I have included a couple of units from Harry at the bottom, plus a few scratch-built and one plastic chariots.
Standard javelin/bow/spear light cavalry again set up for use as 12 or 24 man units.
These units are conversions that didn't make production - they were produced on Tiranti moulds, very fragile, and I never had a vulcanised mould of them made.
Need more 2 horse scythed chariots to go with these, but frankly I've now got more than enough Persian metal chariots...

My Guard cavalry units.
My most recent. Cyrus of Cunaxa fame.
Cataphract horses and Greek cavalry painted as Persians.
Saw this lot around 1971ish and was told they weren't in production because they couldn't get them out of the mould.
When I acquired Garrison I found a mould, cast up a couple of figures
(it was the bow that kept failing), added the bow, stuck them on horses
and produced them as one piece castings.
My original Hinchliffe Guard unit - originally had their own post but when the pictures failed I removed that post and have just included them here instead.

These are the survivors of my original Garrison cavalry force.
I think the middle figures are still in their original paintwork; the rest have been refurbished a couple of times
The new generation.I've set these up so they can be used as either 12 or
24 man units by using the same shield design and having a spare command
stand.
Need more of these - spear/bow/shield cataphract figure on an unarmoured horse matches Herodotus.
Standard bearers simply cataphract riders with added standard. The
general figure was sold as an officer, while the officer figure I use
was sold as the general - I swapped them round because the original
general figure has the same headgear as the infantry officer!

A couple of ex-Harry units. Don't have a specific use for these yet, unlike the ones that have joined the Phrygian army.
I'm counting chariots as cavalry. 1 plastic (forgotton whose), 3 converted
Converted/scratch built in front - charioteer seems to have lost his
whip. It was an early conversion made before the figure apeared on a
mould. For some reason never completed the other projected 4 horse
scythed chariots, probably because production was diverted to the
Assyrian chariots
