The Egyptians are well on the way to destroying the Assyrian left.
Between flank attacks and kind dice the Assyrians are starting to crumble.
In fact, things are looking bad forAssyria.
However, the king is coming...
And takes out the opposition.
I was seriously considering the game was over until that 6:1 happened...
But although the chariots went, the Assyrians were still losing elements.
A few good dice rolls and who knows....
But they didn't get them - game over.
Fun game. Again, dice rolls had a major effect on the result and the game was in doubt for quite a while. On balance, I think the Assyrians were just a couple of units short. Or possibly the Egyptians had a couple too many.
The armies looked good and the Assyrians might have got there, so the game balance was probably fine Rob. Very few battles are between equally matched forces and you can't do anything about the dice, they are just pure luck, whether you roll six 1's or twelve 6's......
ReplyDeleteIt generally went well and I enjoyed it - and the dice gods were certainly laughing during it!
DeleteInspiring stuff Rob - those armies are marvelous - all look great and I especially like those Assyrian chariots - lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I have to admit, I've always considered chariots and elephants as wargames equivalent of comfort food.
DeleteWell that was a cracking looking game Rob…
ReplyDeleteIn looks it brought to mind The Battle of Trimos in Donald Featherstone’s War Games.
All the best. Aly
Yes, it was fun thanks - must get more games in this year.
DeleteNice battle overall. Just waiting the arrival of an Lamming 2 horse Assyrian chariot to add to my MiniFigs, 25mm, Achaemenid army.
ReplyDeleteStill got 3 of those half painted - bought late 70s off Bill, half painted in the 90s, still on my list today.
