Revisiting Newhaven

It was a bit of a shock to realise that, although there have been a few 'adventures' in the Newhaven universe, it is over two years since one was set in Newhaven itself.... Two years for the town to recover from the Terror...

So the first thing was to build the town up again using pictures from previous posts as a reference. It does look quite close to the previous version...

Since then their have been quite a few additions. Here, the shipping additions include a few bought fishing vessels, a couple of home made ones and the scratch built 'Arkham Princess' and 'New Providence'.

The University is up and running again. Should have a story or two left in it, though having been the cause of the Terror and having had a bad Antarctic experience you would expect the Professors and students to be a bit more careful!

The tenements are occupied again. Not sure of the quality of the people there though... the aftermath of the Terror could have attracted some strange tenants...

Surely there are adventures out there for the Arctic Princess and New Providence. Here, the Princess seems to be getting ready to leave on a trip. Of course, any adventures there would be away from Newhaven. Likewise the fishing fleet. Two points on the shipping side. Firstly, the river is a lot wider than suggested here and the various ships and boats have been placed for the photos - they would normally be a lot further away from the river banks! Secondly, also for photographic purposes, the fishing fleet is heading out to sea - in reality, they would never get this far up river! The docks and fishing harbour are further downstream!

The town park still hasn't got it's clock back. The new centrepiece is an artifact brought back by some expedition or other. Personally, I don't trust it. Especially as it seems to be able to move around the park under it's own volition! However, the local police station is just next door if there's trouble.

The brewery is up and running again. No Prohibition on this world, but straightforward Pulp Underworld? Pity St Valentine's Day is past.

Things in a graveyard don't always stay dead... Wonder who's buried there? Of course, things have happened here before...

Of course, not all churches are exactly Christian... There are other gods. Some like to make their presence felt.

Incidentally, Newhaven may be set on Earth... but not our Earth. I've suggested this to a certain extent by having cars in a nominally New England town drive on the left.

Thought these might be of interest... Newhaven back in 2016.

Been a few changes since. For a start, it's bigger.

    1. This is probably a matter of opinion. The people who live there are probably thinking 'Oh no, we're back, bad things are going to happen'.
