The Amazonia Zoo

Living where I do, this could get confused with the Amazona Zoo in Cromer. However, that is spelt without the 'i', so they are different.

This army has a strong tiger element.

Only a very confident enchantress would dare to RIDE a tiger...

I've rebased the beast mistress from an 80mm base to a 60mm one - looks a lot better.

Finally decided to put 3 tigers on a base to act as beasts!

Pegasus had to be painted white... I'm never happy painting greys and here I think the photo (for once) looks better than the original!

Still messing with Amazon spears/javelins/cavalry...

I'm very happy with the way the 20mm cavalry legs fit on a 25mm horse - so the Amazon top and Greek 20mm legs combination works well.

Still needs a bit of filing/filling, but this spear figure worked realy well - it's come out a bit taller and looks good!

  1. Impressive! The tigers are lovely, really nice and changing base size works well. Pegasus is looking mighty fine and the Amazon cavalry should look great when painted up, nice miniature.

    1. Thank you. Might be a while for the cavalry unless I put a few actual conversions on bases - need to get a mould made to cast masters to send to Pete to have an actual mould made (or just send the conversions to Pete :) ) - then wait a while for the mould to post cure. So could be a few months!

  5. Interesting project! By coincidence I saw a news story only yesterday suggesting the Amazons may have been real : https://www.theguardian.com/science/2024/mar/24/truth-behind-the-myths-amazon-warrior-women-of-greek-legend-may-really-have-existed

    1. Yes I saw that. As I recall there were Scythian tribes where girls weren't allowed to marry until they cut off the head of an enemy! Sounds like a way of discouraging marriage!
