No, not casting. Last couple of days the shed has been a bit hot:(:
The house was cooler so I thought 'Got a 20mm fishing port set up with no fishing boats'.
I have slightly rejigged 'Dunwich' , including making a couple of card fisherman's sheds a few days ago - the green ones and big grey one with orange roof. Boats look about right. |
Undercoated them with grey and thought 'really should have some bigger boats to go with them'. Looked up steam drifters and roughed out a couple. |
So from initially thinking 'too hot to cast, what will I do today' to having a half painted fishing fleet - little under 6 hours. OK, they're all very rough and I should have spent a lot of time sanding stuff down - as opposed to not bothering :( - but overall not a bad days work.
And posted within six and a half hours of starting!
They do look the part. Around here they'd likely have a bit more colour (unless its night time....) but they workas do the additional buildings. Now for the wharves, piers, jetties and buoys :) Oh and the pile of old nets and crates for some one/thing to hide benind!
ReplyDeleteQuite a few of the fishing village just pull the boats up on the beach. Nets, etc, will happen at some stage - though as the small boats are after crabs and lobsters could just be lobster pots!
DeleteThis is about the same level as my home made scenery...and works very well too! Try buying mdf equivalents and you woukd probably be looking at the best part of £200 right there....6 hours well spent in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteCertainly a lot more than a few pieces of balsa a couple of lengths of dowel! And work for their intended purpose.
ReplyDeleteThe scratch built boats worked out well. Nice simple designs.
ReplyDeleteThank you. They do seem to work.
DeleteQuite a versatile fleet for all sorts of scenarios.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's starting to be quite a collection!
