Been messing about with this on and off for the last few days and finally decided this would be the best set up to most closely mimic actual Dunwich - though still very much an impression of the place rather than an accurate model!
This is a view from the beach down the length of the village. Attempts to place the village along the short edge of the table didn't work - not enough room - so this was the obvious best option. |
A picture of the whole table including the sea! Building models are all 1/87th scale which makes it awkward as far as cars go - don't have much that small and larger scale ones don't look right! |
Another view down the table. One option on this would be to move the wood forward a bit. In an actual game I think I'll take out the sea wall - doesn't add anything to any scenarios. |
I do like this, it captures the essence of place very nicely indeed.

Thank you. 'Essence' pretty much sums up the intention.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good venue fir some Pulp action...1/87 buildings ARE very small of course...almost 15mm in wargames parlance...whereas the Matchbox Yesteryear are, I believe , 1/43...so oversized even for28mm figures.....not that I let that stop me using them in my Pulp (and RCW) collections!
ReplyDeleteTreating both xxmm and1/xx as scales...
Delete1/100th is roughly 15mm, 1/76th roughly 20mm, 25mm was defined by Minifigs as 1/72nd, 28mm is 1/56th and 1/43rd is bigger! So 1/87th is roughly 18mm?
A lot of my vehicles for Pulp are Lledo and cover a few scales from 1/72nd to 1/43rd - they do look a bit silly with these buildings. On the other hand, 20mm wargames figures and vehicles work fine.
