Somewhere cold...

The blizzard caught them out. Heading for the Miskatonic Antarctic Expedition base camp, everything went crazy... peering into the storm for the lights that would show them the camp...

Then, in between the flurries... a light. Heading towards it in the dark... a fraught landing then quiet as the engine was switched off....

The lights were gone. Too risky to leave the plane, besides sunrise was due.
As day dawned the storm ended. At last they could see the lights of the camp. Except it didn't look like the camp!

A village in the middle of the ice!

They had been seen! Soldiers, dressed in a very old fashioned way marched strangely towards them!
Without a sound the strange soldiers surrounded the explorers and started to escort them towards the village.

Into the square and towards a church-like building.

More of the strange soldiers appeared. They seemed unreal, mechanical men rather than real men.

And then all the doors in the village flew open as they were surrounded by smiling, laughing people and... not people. Small, stocky figures in green and red, some of them also having green skin...

An incidental note about the village buildings. Actually had them for a few years - they cost about £3 each and I naturally bought a church and all the houses. They were made by Noma, but don't seem to be in Noma's current online catalogue.

    1. Could be, but they'd have to fight their way past the penguins first. Now that's a Frozen Earth idea...
