Cartagena - Spanish Patrol Boats

Cartagena is a major Spanish Naval base. When we visited there were several boats in (possibly a couple of subs, but would have been locked away in the sub pens.) A couple of the boats had visible numbers and could be identified from here.
P62, the Alboran, a Chilreu Class patrol boat.

Hard to see, but P76, the Infanta Elena, a former Frigate.

Couldn't make out any these vessel's numbers.

Obviously no number on this one...
Or this one...
Hadn't originally intended to include the next two pictures - Cartagena has a 'castle' - in name only these days, now the old castle is virtually gone and replaced by a glorified viewpoint. In theory you get to this via a lift but we found a back way in... and it gave us superb views of both the Roman Theatre and the old bullring.

  1. From the Invincible Armada to not much of a Navy, makes one understand the Buddhist principle of in permanence doesn't it.

    1. To be fair Cartagena is one of four bases and home to the submarine flotilla and the 6 minehunters. Rota seems to be the main base, though paid for and mostly used by the US.

    2. The Spanish Deep water navy never really recovered after 1898 but, they really had few world wide interests to defend after that.
