A place where Ancient Ancient armies can peacefully retire to...
Possibly.
Oh, and some pulp. A few things on 6mm SciFi tanks and stuff. And the toy soldiers. Especially the War of 1897... And now I seem to be starting on 20mm Napoleonics as well!

20mm Napoleonic British Dragoons
Loosely based on the 1st King's Dragoon Guards...
Loosely... this unit, painting isn't right...
For example, saddlecloth on back rider...
Etc... helmets... still, look OK at a distance and fine for wargames purposes!
Another really nice set if figures, Rob. I've always liked those very striking back and gold dragoon helmets. We had a magnificent example of a very similar Madras Horse Artillery helmet in the Royal Artillery Museum, which had a bright red horsehair comb!
'We had' - suggests you were artillery... my own stint in the OTC was the RA subunit - my career came to an end when I started a wargames club, people joined then changed to day of the meeting so it clashed with OTCC meetings... so choices had to be made.
I was never in the RA, Rob, but I did work for them as an assistant curator at the RA Museum in Woolwich back in he early naughties. It was by far and away the most magnificent military collection I've ever worked with.
They make an impressive group - the rate at which you're knocking out these units suggest you must have an old aircraft hanger to store them in?
ReplyDeleteMostly in a 16' by 9' shed though quite a bit (including most of the Garrison moulds) are still in the original steel shed I used to use...

DeleteSounds like a nice job:) Though I must admit I liked firing the things... we had 25 pounders and they made a very satisfying bang.
