Very, very quick paint job...

... On that presumed Chasseur a Cheval. Couple of hours ago it was bare metal... So very, very bad paint job...wet paint on wet paint and rushed...

Best thing I can say about it is that gives an impression of the figure!

'Update' - did a British Light Dragoon search and found a Knotel print of a British Light Dragoon with long plume! 14th Light Dragoons. 1815!

  1. He looks great as a chasseur, Rob, but I can't help thinking that he's an example of the 1972 BNC3 British Light Dragoon pictured with two other British cavalry in your 2 January 2020 post. In your last post it also looks as if he had two fringed epaulettes and a couple of flounders pinned to his right breast, which would be consistent with a British light dragoon.

    1. That's how I originally identified it - then sidetracked by thinking it wore a cuirass. Re British Dragoon, all British Dragoons seem to have short plumes. Apart from that, I'd agree. Same with right breast - wrong for Chasseur!

  2. Speaking as someone who struggles with painting to the point of desperation, I'd be more than happy!

    1. Thanks, but still intend to do a lot better with it...

  3. Tell you what: another 11 such figures, and flocked bases, and he'll be transformed!

    1. Well, taking a 24 strong infantry battalion as about 640 men, and cavalry squadron around about 150 or so, I've gone for (am going for) 6 man cavalry squadrons, not flocking the bases just sticking on painted mdf... plus, believe me, a lot worse painted than I accept when you really look at thwem...

  4. Rob have you noticed how similar the horse looks to the plastic Airfix ones.

    1. Yes, but if you want to really see a similarity between horses look at JBs earlier range he did fot Minifigs...

  5. I concur with you and WM - as from the side you can see a sabretache which you couldn't see in the front view and Line Chasseurs never had those IIRC. I have to admit the plume bothers me for a British Lt Dragoon as I don't recall seeing one like that but that is easily fixed.

    1. Hadn't noticed Chasseurs didn't have sabretaches! So evidence goes back to being British Light Dragoon with a long plume! Think you can see why these ranges drive me mad!
